I'm David A. Luna, I was born in the Mexican border town of Juarez, my parents decided to come to the U.S. for a better quality of life when I was 12 years old. My very first fishing experience was here, in the beautiful city of Denver, CO. I bought my first fishing rod when I was 13 years old at a K-mart, it was the push button kind. Fishing with baits first, landing some catfish, sunfish and the occasional trout.  Once I reached the ripe age of 21 I got married and had to find a way to get out of the house so I concentrated my efforts into the local streams around Denver.  One day while fishing one of these local streams, I saw a man waving a stick, surprisingly he was catching a slew of fish, he was a fly fisherman, and at this moment I realized there is a difference between “Fishing” and “Catching.  I had to try that stick waving, so, I bought my first fly rod and started catching trout, I was hooked.
I've been fly fishing for 5 years now, targeting mainly trout, but for the past 2 years trout have been on the back burner for me, I discovered an awesome fish to chase with a fly, CARP, yeah, these highly intelligent, far superior fighting to anything in fresh water fish, have been taking most of my fishing time, stalking them on the flats or in the river, they are a very good  opponent, and I have been trying to learn as much about them as I can to try and fool them into taking my fly.
I have also been tying for over 2 years now, and have a few successful carp patterns under my belt, teamed up with James Snyder and designing some cool patterns has been pretty amazing. To see an idea come to reality in the vise, then tying it at the end of the tippet and having a carp taking it is an awesome rush, that I can't have enough of, and I am still working on some new patterns to keep that rush going.
I have a beautiful boy named Diego, who is 2 and can't wait for him to grow so I can teach him all about the sport, I want to pass on my love of the sport to him. I also have a beautiful wife, Alejandra who I love dearly and I'm very thankful to, for taking such good care of our child, and putting up with my addictions, fly fishing and fly tying. I also hope that she has the patience and will put up with all the things to come in my evolution as a fly fisherman.
